Exchange of Vows Notary asks the man, "(his name), do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in (holy) matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?" Man answers, "I do."

It is in answer to a question, where the officiant asks “do you take so-and-so to be your lawfully wedded wife/husband?” The answer to that question is “I DO”. In more modern wedding services, the question is rephrased to “WILL you take…” and is answered with the phrase “I will.”

To be a loving helpmate to you with God's help and strength seeking Him always no matter the trial; whether sickness, health; joys or sorrows, till death do us part.
